I'm only a month late but we've been having too much summer fun around here! We've had family in town pretty much all summer long and it's been so great!
One of my favorite things about Bentley's Birthday was his Cake Smash! It's such a fun trend going on right now for babies 1st birthdays so naturally, we had to join in on the fun! And plus, who doesn't love seeing a baby enjoy their first cake? He absolutely loved it :)
This cake was seriously so easy to make. The cake was made from 3 boxes of white cake mix and the frosting was just vanilla buttercream. I used a "ruffle" icing technique that ended up being so simple! It also doesn't have to be perfect which makes it even better :) I think for my first time making a "real" cake it turned out pretty good! Let the fun begin!
Bentley can't have all the fun! Kip had to join in. Oh these two... partners in crime!
We actually had to stop Bentley from eating more. Ha! I think our sweet tooth was genetic ;)
Love this! My little girl turns one in a few weeks.. What did you use for the back drop behind him?
ReplyDeleteHe tore it up!! And looked so cute doing it.
ReplyDeleteOh my word! He looks like he was having a blast! Love the cake! I'm planning to do ruffles on Londyn Grace's cake, too! Except I'll have someone make it for me, because I am not as talented as you, girl! It looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post. Cute cake and it's about as big as him. Hilarious!! Very sweet. Take care,

Aw, Bentley is so cute!!! I love the way his hair is! DO you guys put anything in it? I know thats a weird question, but Max has sooo mcuh hair. We have cut it twice since April. I thought about styling it differently but I'm not 100% about it.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on the cake and the Pics! I regretably didn't do a cake smash for Max. I guess I still could if I really wanted to.

Great job on the cake. It looks awesome. I sure do love that you went all out for his Bentley's birthday.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie-I came across your Instagram feed and decided to check out your blog. It looks like our children are very close to the same age, my daughter turned one in early August. We too did a "cake smash" and I have to say Bentley did a lot better than my little one. She just kind of nibbled on it, looks like he really got into-good job! Good job on the icing, I had a tough time icing my cake-looked pretty bad actually-oh well! :)
